The celebration event will be held at Silverdale Athletic FC on Tuesday 24th October , 1pm – 4pm. There will be lots of free activities and displays and also free BBQ and refreshments.
The country park will be unveiling its newly awarded Green Flag.
The Silverdale – Our Story project was funded by the Heritage Lottery fund. The object was to record the memories of villagers and miners about life when the pits were open. We have collected many photographs and have recorded oral histories . There is now a new heritage trail around the country park with interpretation boards showing the significant locations and events of the past. Local schools and Staffs Uni have been involved in presenting the information for future public use.
