Tribute to Pastor Edwin Cotter
I was deeply saddened to learn that Pastor Edwin of Cornerstone Elim Church Silverdale had passed away suddenly on 8th April 2020. I knew Pastor Edwin as the mainstay in the development of Elim Church and establishing key community projects over some of the difficult times in past years and he was continuing this work in our current crisis with Covid-19. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Lorna, his boys and the rest of the family, the Church, and his many friends and acquaintances.
Silverdale Parish Council recognises the inspirational work and endurance of Pastor Edwin Cotter influencing many people both within the faith community and beyond. We will continue to engage with our partners and hope to incorporate a tribute to Pastor Edwin in our future engagement with the community.
Henyrk Adamczuk – Chair of Silverdale Parish Council
Through the Cornerstone Elim Church Silverdale, Pastor Edwin was instrumental in providing numerous inclusive community projects. Working with approx. 1000 people each week, the majority of whom were from the Silverdale area. Examples include the stay and play group, youth groups, luncheon club, café, Silverlinks Befriending scheme and Silverlinks Arm Chair exercise for the over 50’s, Happy Snappers Camera club, Allotment Gardening Project and the two community centres (Silverdale and Knutton).
We are also thankful to Pastor Edwin for his hard work in providing the village Christmas lights switch on events, and also more recently the village Christmas parties for children. He had grand plans for Christmas 2020, with a village pantomime and also a lantern parade. Many children will have also benefited from the free school uniform project during the summer of 2019. His larger than life contribution to village life will be sadly missed.
