Vacancy for Silverdale Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer

Salary Scale LC2 (SCP 18 £24,982– SCP 23 £27,741) pro rata

Pro rata 10 hours per week including evening meetings

Due to the current Parish Clerk reducing her working hours, we have a great opportunity for an experienced senior administrator for Silverdale Parish Council (Staffordshire), where greater emphasis is increasingly focused on local delivery of support and services.


The Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer is responsible to the 10-strong Parish Council and receives a precept of approximately £28,500 per year and a budget of approx. £48,000.  The Parish Clerk will be required to work from home and have their own transport. Some evening and out of hours work is required – the Council meets on the second Thursday of every month, although this could be subject to negotiation.


The successful candidate will be computer literate (including Word, Excel etc) and confident in using email and the internet.  Meetings are currently held remotely via Zoom, an internet connection is required and training can be provided if necessary.  A PC and printer will be provided.  Knowledge of the workings of local government is essential and it would be helpful if there was prior knowledge of the law, procedures and financial workings of a local council.  It is highly desirable that applicants have relevant qualifications such as the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) but this is not essential.    However the successful applicant must be willing to undertake further training as necessary to achieve the CiLCA award in the near future, and will be required to undertake the Introduction to Local Council Administration (ILCA) course.


Training will be offered as appropriate and remuneration will be based on scale LC2 SCP 18- 23 pro rata), according to SLCC/NALC Guidelines and dependent on experience and LGPS pension.  A full job description is available here please click to view Job Description PDF
